SCHADS Award changes

Earlier this year TurnPoint Software hosted a webinar to discuss the SCHADs Award changes that came into effect on 1 July 2022. We recognised the significant impact this would have on providers. Responding to these changes the team added some brand-new features to TurnPoint Assist to ensure continued ease of use for providers.  An Award Alerts function was created that sits within the weekly planner allowing rostering teams with the ability to see SCHAD’s award alerts at the time of rostering, rather than waiting to payroll to be alerted. The Award Alerts flags the following:

  • Shifts that are less than the two-hour minimum
  • Broken shift allowances payable
  • Shifts with no meal breaks.

For individual employees not affected by the changes these alerts can be disabled by simply editing the employee’s details.

During the system updating process, the TurnPoint Software team identified circumstances in which providers will need to contact the TurnPoint Support Team to assist with enabling features, including:

  • If the organisation falls under an Enterprise Agreement, or pays under different Awards.
  • If there is a need to automatically top up shifts that fall under the minimum engagement. A “Gap Pay” feature has been developed to automatically top employees up to meet the requirements.
  • Broken Shift Allowances, may be visible in the Payroll Export screen if required.
